There are several national parks in Uganda that are known for their breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife. Uganda’s national parks offer diverse ecosystems and incredible wildlife experiences.

Kibale national park
Kibale Forest National Park is located in western Uganda and is renowned for its incredible its diverse primate population.
There are about 13 different species of primates recorded within the Kibale national park which includes the famous chimpanzees, which are the park’s main attraction. Other primate species found in Kibale Forest National Park include red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, grey-cheeked mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and blue monkeys. Queen Elizabeth national park
Located in western Uganda, Queen Elizabeth national park is home to over 95 mammal species, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros).
The park also has numerous lakes, wetlands, and grasslands, making it a great destination for safaris. Queen Elizabeth National Park is another prominent national park in Uganda. It covers an area of about 1,978 square kilometers.
The park is named after Queen Elizabeth II and is known for its diverse ecosystems. The park features savannah grasslands, wetlands, lakes, and forests, providing habitats for a wide range of wildlife.

Bwindi impenetrable national park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of Uganda’s most famous national parks and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is located in southwestern Uganda and covers an area of approximately 321 square kilometers. The park is renowned for its population of endangered mountain gorillas, making it a popular destination for gorilla trekking.
The dense forest of Bwindi National Park is also home to other primate species such as chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and baboons. Additionally, the park boasts a rich diversity of bird species, with over 350 recorded species including the African green broadbill and the bar-tailed trogon.

Mgahinga gorilla national park
Mgahinga National Park is a stunning national park located in the southwestern region of Uganda, near the border with Rwanda. The park is known for its breathtaking scenery, diverse wildlife, and unique cultural heritage.
The park is renowned for its population of mountain gorillas which are one of the main attractions for visitors to Mgahinga National Park. The national park is also home to other primate species such as golden monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
Mgahinga park is also known for its three volcanoes: Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo. These volcanoes are part of the Virunga volcanic chain and are dormant but not extinct.
The park’s vegetation consists of various types of montane forest, bamboo forests, and open grasslands. The lower slopes of the volcanoes are covered in dense forest, while the higher altitudes are dominated by bamboo.

Lake Mburo national ark
Lake Mburo national park is located in western Uganda and is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including zebras, hyenas, and impalas. It is also known for its beautiful lakeside scenery.
It is one of the smallest national parks in Uganda but offers a unique experience to visitors. The park consists of a mix of savannah grasslands, acacia woodlands, and rocky outcrops, providing a variety of habitats for different species.
One of the main attractions of Lake Mburo National Park is its diverse wildlife. Semuliki national park
Semuliki National Park is a protected area located in the western part of Uganda in Bundibugyo District, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The park lies within the Albertine Rift Valley, which is part of the East African Rift System. It is characterized by a combination of savannah grasslands, tropical rainforests, and wetlands.
One of the unique attractions in Semuliki National Park is the presence of hot springs called Sempaya Hot Springs which consist of the male and female hot springs.
It is home to over 400 bird species, making it one of the most important birding areas in Africa. Some of the notable bird species found in the park include the African grey parrot, shoebill stork, and yellow-throated cuckoo.
