8 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kampala

Upon arrival, you will be received by a representative of Engabi Tours and Travel who will welcome you to Uganda and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe for overnight. If you arrive early you might visit the botanical gardens in Entebbe and visit the local crafts markets.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you will start your transfer to Bwindi driving towards the south western side of the country through a lush country side. You will have stops at the Equator for photography and at Igongo Cultural Hotel for lunch after which you will proceed further south west through the enthralling scenery of Kabale with rolling hills festooned with terraces arriving at your lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters with a picnic lunch for briefing by the senior park ranger guide. You will then enter the forest and enjoy its exquisiteness and novelty being home to more than half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Proceed through the dense vegetation to trek for these endangered primates depending on where they built their nest the previous night. For conservation purposes, time allowed with the Mountain Gorillas is one hour. Observe the placid giants as they feed, groom the young, make love and play. If time allows, after gorilla trekking, you may take a community visit as you experience the life style of the Batwa communities.

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park

After having breakfast at the lodge , you will start the drive to Queen Elizabeth national park with lunch en-route. On arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will check in to your lodge and later enjoy dinner and overnight. If you arrive early you may visit the local communities and the nearby crater lakes.

Day 5: Game drive and Kazinga boat cruise

Your guide will pick you up for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast is served early at the lodge. You will be searching for a variety of animals during the morning game drive, including elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, waterbucks, impalas, topi, and warthogs, among others. 

After the morning game drive, you will head back to the lodge for lunch. You will head back for 2 to 3 hour Kazinga channel boat trip in the late afternoon to take in the stunning water vistas, the nearby fishing community and the animals along the water’s shores including elephants, hippos, buffalos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Drive to Kibale national park 

As you get prepared to make your journey to Kibale national park, you will eat breakfast at the lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your guide will drive you to the lodge in Kibale national park after a about 3-hour ride. 

You will take a walking tour of Fort Portal, explore local landmarks, and have lunch. After lunch, you’ll go to the Amabere caves in Nyakasura and take a nature walk with a local guide who will explain you all about the caves to the caves and to the waterfalls. You will return to your lodge in Kibale national park after this tour to unwind and get ready for dinner and to spend the night.

Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking

You will proceed to the Kanyanchu headquarters in Kibale national park after an early breakfast for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. You will look for chimpanzees with your ranger guides in Kibale Forest after the briefing. 

You will also see other primates in Kibale forest, such as vervet and black-and-white colobus monkeys, and learn about the many tree and butterfly species. You will also visit the Bigodi wetlands in Kibale National Park as you take a stroll through nature, take in your surroundings, and look for other primates in the trees. Numerous bird species can be spotted here. After the tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Drive to Entebbe

Your breakfast will be served at the lodge in Kibale national park ahead of your drive back to Entebbe where you will be dropped off at the airport which will bring the tour to an end.
