Detailed itinerary of the 7 Days Masai Mara and Bwindi Safari

Day 1: Arrival For 7 Days Masai Mara and Bwindi Safari

You will be picked up from Jomo Kenyatta international airport by your guide who will welcome you for the safari in Kenya. After a short briefing, you will be driven to the hotel in Nairobi to check in. 

Depending on your time of arrival, you will engage in a city tour around Nairobi with your guide and later return to the hotel to relax and spend the night.

Day 2: Drive to Masai Mara

Your breakfast will be served at the hotel in Nairobi and after check out, you will embark on the drive to Masai Mara reserve for about 5 hours with a stop in Narok town for a chance to encounter the locals and enjoy learning about their culture and later continue to the lodge in Mara for check in and lunch.

After lunch, you will engage in an evening game drive in Masai Mara reserve to search for the wildlife like elephants, giraffes, antelopes, wildebeests, zebras, lions, leopards, rhinos among others and your guide will drive you to the lodge to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3: Game drives in Masai Mara

You will have a full day to explore Masai Mara national reserve after having breakfast at the lodge. Your guide will take you on a morning game drive around the destination to search for the different wildlife species and after a lunch break, you will have another game drive to look out for wildlife species such as elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, antelopes, impalas, zebras, giraffes, hippos, waterbucks, wildebeests, cheetahs and many others.

After the game drives in Masai Mara reserve, you will return to the lodge to prepare for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Flight to Entebbe

After having breakfast at the lodge in Masai Mara, your guide will drive you to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe airport. You will be picked up from Entebbe airport on arrival by our company representative and proceed to the hotel in Entebbe for check in.

Day 5: Drive to Bwindi national park

7 Days Masai Mara and Bwindi

You will have breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe and your guide will drive you to Bwindi national park with a stop at the equator to enjoy taking photos and you will make another stop for lunch. Your guide will drive you to the lodge in Bwindi national park where you will check in.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge in Bwindi.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking

Your breakfast will be served at the lodge in Bwindi national park and your guide will lead you to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. You will start the search for gorillas in Bwindi after being allocated ranger guides and in your groups you will head into the impenetrable forest. 

Your encounter with the gorillas will take 1 hour and after the gorilla trek, you will return to the lodge or take part in a cultural tour to interact with the locals and get to know more about their way of life and culture. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge in Bwindi. 

Day 7: Drive to Entebbe

You will start the drive back to Entebbe after breakfast at the lodge in Bwindi national park and during the journey; you will enjoy the scenery of the country side in south western Uganda and also have breaks for lunch and for souvenir shopping. 

Your guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport which will bring 7 Days Masai Mara and Bwindi safari to an end.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

On this 7 Days Masai Mara and Bwindi safari, all visitors to Uganda and Kenya must have a valid passport with at least 4 consecutive blanks pages.  Any applicable visa and/or relevant documentation are the responsibility of the traveler.  For further information on Visa requirements visitors are advised to contact their nearest Uganda or Kenya Embassy or Consulate. 220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the UMEME in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.

CURRENCY:

Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.   Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country.  Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.

CLOTHING:

Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.

BAGGAGE:

Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.

WATER:

You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration. 

HEALTH;

East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards:

Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray

Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

As a guideline and dependent on how happy you are, we would suggest the following:

The General Hotel/Lodge/Camp Staff – Approximately U$ 10.00 per person per day

Driver Guides – Approximately US$ 15.00 to US$ 20.00 per person per day

Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform.  Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages.  If in doubt, please check with your guide.
