Detailed Itinerary of the 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Tour
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes national park
You will be picked up on arrival at Kigali international airport or the hotel in Kigali and your guide will drive you to Ruhengeri which is the nearest town to Volcanoes national park where you will prepare for your gorilla trek in Rwanda.
During the tour, you will have a stop at the Iby’iwacu village for a cultural tour to get to know more about the way of life of the Rwandese people including their traditional dances, you will also try out the local food and later proceed to the lodge in Volcanoes national park for check-in and spend the evening at leisure as you prepare for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking
After starting the day with breakfast at the lodge, you will go to the park headquarters in Volcanoes national park for a briefing on gorilla trekking in Rwanda. You will go with your packed lunches for the trek and your ranger guides will accompany you on the journey of searching for the mountain gorillas.
You will have 1 hour with the gorillas in Volcanoes national park after finding them and after recording videos and photos with the gorillas, you will return to the briefing point and your guide will take you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Dian Fossey Hike
You will engage in the Dian Fossey hike after having breakfast at the lodge and for about 3 to 5 hours enjoy the hike in Volcanoes national park. The hike will also start with a briefing and will be guided by ranger guides who will leads you through different trails and you will also enjoy amazing views of the Virunga volcanoes during the experience after which you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking and return to Kigali
On the last day of your safari, you will enjoy a golden monkey trek in Volcanoes national park which will start with breakfast and a briefing at the park headquarters. You will follow the trails in the park in search of the golden monkeys with ranger guides and also encounter other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys as well as red tailed monkeys.
After the golden monkey trek, you will have lunch and start the journey back to Kigali where your guide will drop you off at Kigali international airport which will ring the tour to an end.
