Detailed itinerary of the 9 Days Uganda And Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Arrival and drive to Kibale national park

You will be picked up from Entebbe international airport or your hotel in Entebbe and welcome you for the safari. After a short briefing with your guide, you will be driven to Kibale national park which is home to chimpanzees in Uganda.

During the drive to Kibale national park, you will enjoy views around western Uganda and tea plantations. The drive from Entebbe to Kibale national park will take about 6 hours and you will check in at the lodge, have lunch and relax at the lodge for the rest of the day where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will proceed to the Kanyanchu park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. You will trek into Kibale forest with your ranger guides and search for the chimpanzees which can be spotted as they swing from one branch to another. You will encounter black and white colobus monkeys and different bird species during the chimpanzee trek.

You will be driven to Queen Elizabeth national park after the chimpanzee trek in Kibale national park and your guide will drive you to the lodge where you will check in and prepare to have your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi national park

You will engage in a morning game drive around Queen Elizabeth national park and drive though the home of tree climbing lions which is the Ishasha sector. You will also see other wildlife species along the way such as elephants, buffalos, antelopes among others. 

Your guide will drive you to the lodge in Bwindi national park where you will have dinner and spend the night.  

Day 4: Gorilla trekking

Your guide will take you to the park headquarters in Bwindi national park where you will have a briefing on gorilla trekking. You will trek through the forest in search of the gorillas and depending on the location of the gorilla family in the forest; you will take a short or long time in the search.

You will spend 1 hour with the gorillas when you find them in Bwindi forest and later return to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive to Entebbe

Your guide will drive you to Entebbe airport from Bwindi national park after having breakfast and along the way, you will have a stop for lunch and you will be driven to the hotel in Entebbe where you will spend the night.

Day 6: Flight to Arusha

After early breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe, your guide will drive you to Entebbe airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro international airport. 

On arrival in Tanzania, you will be welcomed and driven to the hotel in Arusha to check in and to relax as you prepare for dinner and to spend the night.

Day 7: Drive to Serengeti national park

Your breakfast will be served early at the hotel in Arusha and your guide will drive you to Serengeti national park in the northern part of Tanzania where you will enjoy wildlife viewing and explore the vast savannah plains in search of the different wildlife species. 

Your guide will drive you to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 8: Game drives in Serengeti national park

You will spend the day exploring Serengeti national park after breakfast at the lodge and you will take part in a morning game drive and also have a lunch break and later take part in an afternoon game drive in search of elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, cheetahs, giraffes, waterbucks, hartebeests, warthogs, hippos and many others.

After the game drive in Serengeti national park, you will be driven to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Drive to Arusha

After having an early breakfast at the lodge in Serengeti national park you will start the journey to Arusha for about 8 hours and you will be dropped off at Kilimanjaro international airport or the hotel in Arusha which will bring the 9 Days Uganda And Tanzania Safari to an end

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the UMEME in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.

CURRENCY:

Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.   Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country.  Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.

CLOTHING:

Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.

BAGGAGE:

Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.

WATER:

You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration. 

HEALTH;

East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards:

Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray

Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform.  Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages.  If in doubt, please check with your guide.
