This 6 days Uganda primate safari Kibale and Bwindi safari is a primate tour which will start in Entebbe before driving to Kibale national park for an exciting chimpanzee trek and Bigodi tour in the primate capital of the world. You will also visit Queen Elizabeth national park for a wildlife safari and a chance to see the tree climbing lions of Ishasha. Detailed itinerary of the 6 Days Uganda Primate Safari

Day 1: Pick up and drive to Kibale national park

Your guide will pick you up from Entebbe international airport on arrival and welcome you for the safari.You will have a short briefing before starting the drive to Kibale national park which takes about 5 to 6 hours. During the drive to western Uganda where the park is located, you will enjoy seeing scenic hills, tea plantations and so much more and arrive in time for lunch at the lodge.

After lunch you will explore Fort Portal town and also interact with the locals and later return to the lodge where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi visit

You will begin your chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale national park with breakfast at the lodge before going to the Kanyanchu park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will go into Kibale forest in groups of 8 to search for the chimpanzees. During the trek, you will encounter other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys as well as various bird species.

After the chimpanzee trek in Kibale national park, you will also take part in a Bigodi tour during which you will enjoy a guided nature walk to the Bigodi wetland sanctuary which is also home to different bird species. After the Bigodi visit, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park and Kazinga boat cruise

You will have breakfast at the lodge ahead of your drive from Kibale national park to Queen Elizabeth national park for about 3 hours and you will be driven to your lodge where you will have lunch.

After having lunch at the lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will engage in a boat ride on the Kazinga channel for about 2 hours during which you will enjoy seeing hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffalos as well as different birds. Your guide will drive you to the lodge after the boat ride for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi national park

Your breakfast will be served at the lodge ahead of an exciting and short morning game drive around Queen Elizabeth national park in search of the famous tree climbing lions among other wildlife species in the Ishasha sector.

From Ishasha sector, you will proceed to Bwindi national park where you will relax, spend the evening and prepare for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and cultural tour

Before going to the park headquarters in Bwindi national park, you will have breakfast early at the lodge, you will have a gorilla trekking briefing, be separated into groups of eight, and be assigned a ranger guide to trek a gorilla family. 

During the search for the gorillas in Bwindi forest, you will see other primate species and different birds and on finding the gorillas, you will spend an hour with them and capturing videos and photo. 

You will make a trek back to the park headquarters to pick up your certificates after the gorilla trek and later engage in a cultural tour with the locals, get to experience their culture, visit the local farms and learn how to manufacture waragi the local way. You will return to the lodge after this activity to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 6: Drive to Entebbe

Your breakfast will be served early at the lodge in Bwindi national park and you will prepare for your drive to Entebbe with a stop at the equator for photos and craft shopping as well as in Mbarara for lunch. 

Your guide will drop you off at Entebbe airport which will bring the tour to an end.
