Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be welcomed upon arrival at Kigali international airport and your guide will drive you to the hotel in Kigali: The Retreat Kigali / Serena Hotel Kigali / Kigali Marriott Hotel to rest and overcome jetlag.

Alternatively upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your private guide and after a short briefing you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, located approximately 110 km (2.5 hours) from Kigali.

Enjoy a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial for an insightful introduction to Rwanda’s history.

Arrive at the luxury lodge of your choice depending on availability such as Bisate Lodge, Wilderness Sabyinyo, or One&Only Gorilla’s Nest — and settle in.

Spend the evening relaxing by the fireplace or enjoying a spa treatment.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a short briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette.

Begin your trek through the misty rainforest in search of one of the habituated gorilla families. Trekking can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas.

Spend a magical, awe-inspiring hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat — a truly humbling experience.
