Best Time To Travel:

Although gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is possible throughout the year, The best time for this luxury safari is during the dry seasons: June to September and December to February when trekking conditions are optimal and wildlife viewing is at its best. Forest trails are less slick during this time since they are comparatively dry. Additionally, during these months, you have a better chance of seeing gorillas in dry weather.

How To Get There:

From Entebbe:

Air travel is the most efficient mode of transportation. There are regular flights from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) to Kihihi or Kisoro airports operated by a number of domestic carriers, including Aerolink Uganda. Both are near Bwindi; Kisoro serves the southern area, while Kihihi serves the northern part. The journey, which lasts roughly one and a half hours, offers stunning aerial views of Uganda’s verdant countryside. The Buhoma sector, the park’s most visited gorilla trekking destination, is about a one to two hour drive from Kihihi. You will have an equally quick transfer to the Rushaga or Nkuringo trailheads if you land in Kisoro.

A road trip is a satisfying substitute for tourists with more leisure. Depending on where you’re going in Bwindi, the drive from Entebbe will take you through Kampala and then onto the Masaka-Mbarara highway, which is about 480 to 500 kilometers long. By private automobile, the trip takes roughly eight to ten hours. You can stop at intriguing places along the journey, such Lake Mburo National Park for a quick safari or the Equator crossing for a picture. Although the final approach to Bwindi might be challenging, particularly during the wet season, the roads going there are usually kept up nicely. For comfort and security, it is strongly advised to rent a 4×4 car.

From Kampala:

To fly from Kampala, you’ll first need to travel to Entebbe International Airport (EBB) or Kajjansi airfield, which is about an hour’s drive away, depending on traffic. From there, you can board a domestic flight to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip. While this adds a bit of time compared to starting directly from Entebbe, it’s still much quicker than driving the entire distance.
